BiSaddle ShapeShifter Detailed Setup
Step 1. Before removing your old saddle, record two measurements
1a. Saddle height from the top of the saddle to the center of the bottom bracket.
1b. Widest area of saddle to center of handlebars.
saddle height close-up view
saddle width close-up view

Step 2. Measure Your Sit Bones
Obtaining a width measurement for your sit bones (ischial tuberosities) can be useful for establishing a rear saddle width. Most bicycle shops have tools to measure your sit bones, but you can also get a measurement at home using very simple tools and just a few minutes of your time.
Place a piece of clean cardboard on to a hard surface. While sitting pull yourself firmly down on to it. This will leave impressions of your sitbones in the cardboard.Be sure to sit upright and do not wear thick padded clothing.
Use a dark colored crayon to rub across the surface of the cardboard (using the side of the crayon with paper sleeve removed)– this will reveal your sit bone indentations. Mark the center of each indentation.
Use a ruler or tape measure to determine the distance(in millimeters) between the center of the sit bones.Write this number down because you will use it to set the rear width of your saddle.
Consider your riding style and add 0-4cm to your sit bone measurement
Step 3. Setting Up BiSaddle Width
Every BiSaddle leaves our factory with a neutral position that works well for a variety of people. If you’re new to BiSaddle and not sure what you want or need, try this setting first. If you have experience with another saddle and know of specific measurements that you’d like, feel free to adjust to those settings.
REAR ADJUSTMENT: In general, most people prefer a rear width of BiSaddle that’s equal or slightly greater (1cm – 4cm) than their sit bone measurement. To make the adjustment, loosen rear bolts on the underside of BiSaddle and use your sit bone measurement to establish the proper width. The width of the widest point of your BiSaddle should match the width you recorded when measuring your sit bones. Tighten bolts after adjustment is made. Keep surfaces symmetrical unless asymmetry is needed. Using your sit bone measurement to adjust the rear width is meant to be a starting point for achieving comfort. You may find a slightly more narrow or wide saddle adjustment is most comfortable for you.
FRONT ADJUSTMENT: The front width of your BiSaddle is largely up to personal preference. A wider front typically results in better blood flow and/or reduction of genital numbness. If it’s too wide, however, it can cause rubbing or chafing of your inner thighs. We suggest that you set the front of the seat as wide as possible without chafing.
How To adjust width: Loosen (but don’t remove) bottom bolts using the supplied Allen wrench. Adjust the seating surfaces to your desired width, and re-tighten bolts. Double check that both sides are symmetrical and tighten to 3 Nm. Fine tuning adjustments can be made on the trail. We recommend adding the supplied allen wrench to your tool bag. MAX BiSaddle bolt torque is 26 inch/lb or 3Nm.
Note: Do NOT adjust/loosen the nose bolt in the chassis - it secures the rails!
Rear Adjustment: Adjust rear width to match your sit bone measurement. Remember to add your riding position. Measure to the widest point of your BiSaddle and tighten bolts to 3Nm.
Front Adjustment: Start wide and reduce width until the saddle no longer rubs on your inner thigh.
Step 4. Installing BiSaddle on Your Bike
Fore-aft: To set the fore-aft adjustment, replicate your old seat measurement from the widest point of the saddle to the center of the stem clamp.
Height: Install BiSaddle and lightly tighten your seat post bolts, while still allowing for some movement and adjustments. Set the saddle height to match your previous seat height.
Tilt: Most cyclists prefer a seat that is level to their bike or slightly tilted downwards. When setting the tilt of your seat be sure your bike is on level ground and use a level to set the seat to your desired tilt.Small adjustments to tilt can often help you achieve ultimate comfort.
DOUBLE CHECK THAT ALL BOLTS ARE TIGHTENED PROPERLY BEFORE RIDING YOUR BIKE!
RAIL TORQUE SPECS: Carbon Rails: 6-10 Nm,6-8 Nm for 2-bolt, 9-10 Nm for single bolt
MAX BiSaddle bolt torque is 26 inch/lb or 3 Nm.
Do NOT adjust/loosen the nose bolt in the chassis - it secures the rails!
Bring the supplied Allen wrench along with any other necessary tools on your first few rides, as some small adjustments may be necessary to get the position 100% dialed in. Often times a small adjustment in height, tilt, or fore-aft can make a big difference in comfort. Also feel free to experiment with the saddle width, always making sure to carefully adjust it and properly tighten the bolts before riding again.
Step A. Optional Profile Wedges
Wedges are an optional add-on to your BiSaddle purchase. They are available here. These can be installed between the base of the saddle and the two saddle surface pads to change the shape across the saddle top. Making it either more flat, or more rounded. Note: Only use wedges if you are unable to get comfortable with a standard BiSaddle setup.
Wedge Screws: Longer screws are needed for the wedges and are included in the wedge kit.
SRT Rounding wedge: front bolts 14 mm, rear bolts 20 mm.
SRT Flattening wedge: front bolts 18 mm, rear bolts 20 mm.
EXT Rounding wedge: front bolts 14 mm, rear bolts 20 mm.
EXT Flattening wedge: front bolts 16 mm, rear bolts 20 mm.
There are no absolute rules that dictate who should use wedges. In general people with good flexibility and forward hip rotation tend to prefer a flatter saddle. People who aren’t as flexible and/or to struggle with saddle sores tend to prefer a more rounded saddle. We suggest you start with no wedges, and add them if you run into a specific problem.
Additional Instruction:
2 hole front surface nut adjustment:
Your BiSaddle may be equipped with a 2 hole front adjustment nut. You can determine if you have the 2 hole nut by removing the front bolt and looking under your BiSaddle. To adjust the front of your saddle more wide or more narrow it may be necessary to remove the front bolt and re-install it into the desired nut hole.
Optional rear bracket:
The rear bracket is optional and is only compatible with the flex frame. It will not work with the full carbon fiber frame. The rear bracket can be used to hold your bike onto a race transition bar or used to hold a water bottle or tool bag. To install the rear bracket you should place the supplied nut into the base of the frame and insert the bolt from the rear of the frame and tighten.
Removing or Changing your BiSaddle Padding/Surfaces
After riding, adjusting, and re-riding your BiSaddle, it may be desirable to try different surfaces to get fully comfortable. Alternate surfaces are available here.
All BiSaddle base frames and surfaces are interchangeable. This means you can replace your surfaces without changing the base. To remove the surfaces, all 4 adjustment bolts will need to be removed from the bottom side of the base frame. Once all the bolts are removed, you can proceed to install the new surfaces on to the frame and re-install the bolts. Please make sure the bolts are tightened before riding.
Bolt sizes for surfaces
SRT 1.0, Saint, Saint Pro 3D, Hurricane, Hurricane Pro 3D Front adjustment bolts: 14mm Rear Adjustment bolts: 16mm
Surfaces are moving while riding: If after long rides you find that the surface shave moved, then reposition them to your desired width and tighten bolts down beyond 3 Nm and re-ride. Tighten bolts until the surfaces stop moving.
Asymmetry: Some cyclists may need the saddle surfaces asymmetrical to get comfortable. This means one side may be adjusted differently than the other to provide comfort for those with hip alignment issues or injuries.
Sit bones rolling off the inside or outside of saddle: If your sit bones are rolling off the inside of the saddle surface, then try adjusting the rear width of your saddle a little narrower. If your sit bones are rolling off the outside of your saddle surface, then try adjusting the rear width of your saddle a little wider. Note: You may also want to try lowering your saddle height. If your saddle is too high and your legs are over extended, then your body will be forced to roll side to side to stay on your pedals.
Tailbone pain: Try adjusting the rear width to a wider position to allow room for the tailbone.
Making contact with flex frame base: If while riding you are making contact with the flex frame base, then try a wedge to raise the surfaces. If after trying the wedges you are still making contact with the frame, then contact us to discuss the option of trying a rigid carbon fiber frame.
Race transition mounting problems: BiSaddle is considered a noseless saddle, which can make it difficult to keep your bike on the transition bar when held by the nose. We recommend using a zip tie or velcro strap to hold your bike on to a race transition bar.
BiSaddle seems confusing: Don’t give up. Your ultimate custom fit saddle may be just a small adjustment away. Try learning a little more from our videos at bisaddle.com/pages/instruction or call us to see if you qualify for a free saddle surface trade.
Unable to get comfortable: If you have tried multiple widths and wedges and still cannot get comfortable, then please call us for further troubleshooting at (877) 397-2165. When adjusting your BiSaddle, Always let comfort be your guide!
WARRANTY:Your BiSaddle comes with a 1 year warranty on the surface padding and a lifetime warranty on the base frame against manufacturer defects and only applies to the original owner. Do you experience any of these painful saddle symptoms? The Fix is Bisaddle
😣 Pain
“Usually the pain begins after 3 miles, and boy do I hate bumps of any kind!”
Pain can be experienced when body weight is supported by the soft tissue between your sit bones.
😟 Numbness
“After 10-15 miles, I would develop numbness”
Bike saddles can cause men and women to put pressure on the perineum, which is the area located between the external genitals and the anus. This pressure causes arteries and nerves to compress, resulting in reduced blood flow and sensation to your genitals.
😰 Discomfort
“I have tried an exhausting number of bicycle seats and haven’t found a comfortable saddle”
Saddle padding shouldn’t be excessively thick or soft. This causes the padding to squish down under the sit bones – and pushes up in the middle – adding pressure and discomfort where you don’t want it.
😬 Saddle Sores
“I had trouble with numbness and saddle sores while in aero position”
When you ride in the drops or in aero position your pelvis tilts forward (three degrees more for women then men), which can take pressure off the sit bones and can re-distribute it on soft tissue area causing sores and numbness.
😱 E.D.
“I was holding back on extra and long distance rides because I was worried about “ED”
“There are only two kinds of male cyclists – those who are impotent and those who will be impotent.” – Dr. Irwin Goldstein
🫤 Soft Tissue Damage
“I was miserable on my saddle and developed certain “female” issues”
A recent article indicated that 30% of the professional female riders the author knew, required genital surgery from damage due to saddle pressure.

I give it five stars but it was a pain to get adjusted. Thanks to Frederique, I finally got it dialed in. I love the texture. No more constantly sliding forward and readjusting. I was almost ready to give on on the saddle and go back to my old one when Frederique from support lent a hand and some knowledge. Turns out it was the height I didn't have correct, not the side to side or front to back. With his help I was able to get it adjusted and was out on a 75 mile ride that week with no saddle irritation. I'm looking forward to riding with it in the CHAFE150 in June. 10 hours in the saddle can become a chore but so far this has been a huge help.
I love my Bisaddle. Solves so many discomforts for female riders. After making many adjustments I am dialed in. The 3D printed design makes for extra comfort and extra power. It performed amazingly on race day. Longer or more challenging rides are now so much better!
No more saddle soars! It took couple tries to adjust to my sit bones but once I got it right no more lower back pain and saddle soars! Loving my new cycling experience thanks to bisaddle!
I’ve recently undergone treatment for prostate cancer so was looking for a kinder, gentler bicycle seat. The Saint Pro so far fulfills my needs. It took a few rides and tinkering but I now enjoy comfort on a level I never expected. My rides are still short, 12 to 15 miles but I think as I ramp up the mileage the comfort will continue. I can wholeheartedly recommend this seat, with it’s infinite adjustability.
I love the complete adjustability of this saddle. I chose this model because it seemed to have the best comfort and shape for my use. I was hesitant at first because of the cost, but since installing and riding over 1000mi on it, this has been one of the best investments I have made for my bike and my comfort. Longest ride so far has been 80mi — planning a century later this month. I ride road and gravel and this fits me perfectly. Set up was easy - I just followed the instructions and fine tuned over a few rides. The waterproof cover comes in handy when transporting on my car’s bike rack. Great product.
I’m genuinely pleased to be rocking the Saint 3D. It was a bit of a setup but I think I got my saddle dialed in. It took 2 tries to get it to the point where I’m not shifting around from sitbone pain. I can actually focus on riding. I mentioned it took two tries. When I unboxed it, I did all my sitbone measurements with the cardboard. Also, a few months back, I went to a professional Bike fitter, so I had most of my measurements recorded…I just had to redo the reach measurement since the fitter measured from the back of my Selle italia and not from the widest width like the instructions said. Anyway after the first set up, I still had sitbone pain, so I tried a different approach. I had the idea of laying down on my bed, and (we’re all adults here I’m assuming), I started feeling around for my sitbones using my index finger tip, especially in the areas that were painful. And I took a measurement tape on the tips of my fingers pressed it where I was feeling pain and used that to get my second set of measurements. Doing this helped me to find that my measurements were 10cm more than the original. So I said, what the heck and I took my saddle off my seat post and readjusted it. It actually wasn’t too bad. It felt more comfortable. In fact I took it on two rides. One on zwift and one riding to work. It was painless. It actually was a comfortable ride. Thanks BiSaddle. I’m now a fan.
High quality saddle!! I’ve used several Bisaddles up until this one and I have to say it is everything I could ask for in a saddle. It’s light, good surface density, and has great support for the buns ;). Seriously I couldn’t emphasize enough how happy I am with the saddle. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next!
I wasn't sure what to think when I got this saddle...but now I'm impressed! I've never ridden a 3D printed saddle before now but was told how comfy they are. I got the saddle and after pushing on the padding I was a little scared. I dialed in the width to what I thought would be good compared to my current saddle, mounted it up and got on Zwift. It was an odd sensation of support versus the roadie style Fabric scoop that was on there. I increased the width just a tad and it was even better...have I been riding the wrong width for this long? Finally with warmer weather randomly here (in a cold Wisconsin winter) I got it out for some proper road rides on my gravel bike. And the 3D printed padding while it looks uncomfortable was absolutely dialed. Comfort, support and I could still pedal with the same efficiency. No weird rubs, no pain and it actually kept my back fresher. Went from pretty skeptical to dialed in! And it's nice to know I can mess around with micro width adjustments if I feel something is changing or not quite right. And it looks really cool!
Completed the CHAFE150 with the 3D Saint Pro. The saddle was cooler than my previous saddle. It keeps you in the sweet spot longer with less need to adjust because you slid forward. It did take longer to get it adjusted and I'm still not confident I have it correct. I go a couple weeks and then make another adjustment to see if I can improve the fit. It's getting better and but I'm still making adjustments. I like that I can make adjustments to take care of problems. I wish there was a guide that said, "If you are having these problems, try these adjustments." Just FYI. However wide you think you need to make it, go a little wider. The material is quite forgiving and going wider will help put you in the sweet spot. It's not the same height as your last saddle. Don't forget to adjust up or down (I had to go down). Don't give up if you can't get it right in the first week. I've been at it two months and still, small adjustments keep making it more comfortable. I think in the end it's going to be one of the most comfortable saddles I've owned. It's just going to take a lot of small adjustments to get there.
I got diagnosed with prostatitis and urologist said I needed to get a different bike saddle. Tried out a few, but not a lot of success. This Bi-saddle worked great and all the symptoms are gone
Additionally, this saddle comes with great instructions on how to adjust and is easy to adjust.
Overall, extremely happy with this saddle!!!
I'm still trying to find the optimal width. I've got some saddle sores that make it uncomfortable to ride in one position for long time. The saddle is on my indoor bike because weather is still not good to ride out.
I rode for about 300 miles in the first two weeks. I first set it up using the instructions supplied. After about 30 miles I had to adjust it. Then I had to adjust several more times and never got it to be comfortable. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it on my spare bike or not.
GAME CHANGER.
I went from unbearable saddle pain to zero pain—literally overnight. With my first Ironman coming up, I can’t overstate how much more confident and grateful I feel thanks to Bisaddle. This saddle made long rides not just bearable, but actually enjoyable. Worth every penny.
Have tried several saddles to relieve my numbness and sit-bone issues, so finally ordered a Bi-saddle 3D pro. Received and setup my saddle based on instructions/videos provided. Made several indoor trainer rides prior to outdoor rides. Made minor modifications to saddle position prior to outdoor ride. Instant relief!!! Unfortunately due to other medical issues, I have had to stop training, but feel that my previous sit-bone discomfort and numbness are in the past.
I love the adjustability of this saddle. I continued to make small adjustments over the first half dozen rides and found just the ride position without any of the rubbing or pains I was having with my old saddle!
After getting the saint pro and making some adjustments I have not been getting saddle sores or pain while riding like I was in my other saddles. It has been a long road to find this saddle but so glad I did!
I have three on three different bikes. I have tinkered with them, dialed them in and have reached the point where there is absolutely no discomfort riding. I tend to ride a little forward on the saddle and the Bi Saddle allows me to keep the two sides separate all the way to the front of the saddle. With other saddles, there is separation and "comfort space" but it is only in the mid-section: the separation closes near the front of the saddle just where I need it.
Literally the best purchase for my bike. This saddle took the pain out of riding and it’s awesome. I’ve been riding for about 4 years and I thought the butt pain was just something I had to live with. Wish I had this seat from the first day I bought my bike. If your butt hurts buy this saddle. It changes things.
First saddle that I have ever owned that was comfortable right out of the box. Day 1 I did a 30 mile ride with no discomfort or numbness. This is the best saddle yet.
After several trial and error adjustments, today I tested my new Saint Pro 3D today in a 60 mile ride and it was very comfortable. I am happy with my investment.
I wanted to love this. But it is incredibly hard and not friendly to female soft tissue. If you ride tri or tt in a more aggressive rotated position this is not the saddle for you. Customer service has been good so far. I ordered another seat. Fingers crossed.
I have two BiSaddles now, the Saint Pro and a Hurricane and they both are awesome. This one you kind of stick to and no sliding around at all, I like it a lot. The Hurricane is a bit shorter, and the seat is a little softer. The both are great and fully adjustable. I would recommend them totally.
I was going initially surprised at how small the saddle was compared to my old one. I spent some time fine tuning the width and followed the thorough instructions about how to locate the saddle. My first ride with new saddle was delightful. Very comfortable. I’m very pleased with how it feels.
Saint Pro 3D purchase with carbon rails review. I have ridden bi-saddles since they were offered by Bikefit many years ago. I have several different bi-saddle models to compare the Saint Pro 3D too. The major difference is road vibration has greatly reduced. Secondly, the Saint Pro 3D is firmer and your seat conforms to the saddle which reduces sliding on the saddle. Lastly, I have had prostrate discomfort due to cycling but this model and the others have eliminated the issue.
Unfortunately, this was not the right saddle for me. Didn’t feel very comfortable despite trying multiple adjustments. Delivered and return process was very painless, however!
Great saddle! Upgraded from my former BiSaddle and this one is even more comfortable. I have this on my road bike and love the feel of the 3d printed material.
