Location: Lincoln, Nebraska (No, Nebraska is not flat!)

Cycling Discipline:Gravel riding/racing

Saddle:Bonneville Distance

Known For: I was on the 2024 All Bodies On Bikes Steamboat Springs Gravel race team. In my first year of riding gravel, I competed in eight races in the U.S.

I am a lifelong educator and love riding bikes. I am a former college offensive lineman who has spent most of his life in aggressive sports (football, wrestling, powerlifting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).  The first time I rode on a gravel road was at a race that my sister signed me up for and forced me to ride.  Back then, I was riding a recumbent fat trike.  I am known for riding a Fat Tire bikes in races, sometimes,  where few or zero people ride fat bikes; I'm pretty sure I was the only Fat Tire at SBT Gravel and was definitely the only one on a Fat Bike at the Hill Climb. I am goofy and often can be found in costume or rocking my trademark Party Pace hat, as I embody that philosophy in my gravel riding.  I don't care about time; I only want to have fun and hopefully complete the race.  I am an over-packer when it comes to med kits and bike tools; let's just say that if you have a breakdown or crash, I'm the one you want to see coming over the hill as I have just about every tool or medical item you could need.

I am a firm believer in having fun out on the gravel, no matter what that looks like for you.  If it is being in the top 10% of finishers—awesome. If it is just finishing the race—I'm there with you. I have fallen in love with gravel riding, and I want to share that love and enjoyment with as many people as I can,  especially larger-bodied people. I am constantly bugging my friends to join me on a ride for coffee, beer, or some delicious local pastries.  My ultimate goal is to help other larger-bodied individuals see that they, too, can be endurance athletes.  If you train or compete, you are an athlete; just because you are a larger-bodied person does not mean you can't or shouldn't do these things.

Why Lucas rides BiSaddle:

I ride Bisaddle to be able to ride.  As a larger-bodied person, stock saddles and many after-market saddles are not designed with people like me in mind (6ft tall, 280 lbs).  It was tough for me to ride the distances I wanted to when I was having all sorts of soft-tissue issues, numbness, saddle sores, and outright pain.  It got to the point where it was too painful to ride, so I stopped riding.  The person who did my bike fit (they are also a PT) suggested I look into Bisaddles, and at first, I didn't think they were any different from any other saddle.  As I researched Bisaddle more, the more it made sense.  I began to understand why typical saddles were not supporting me; they were not wide enough to accommodate my sit bones.  I decided to invest in my fitness and riding enjoyment and got a Bonneville Distance (SRT 2.0), and oh, the difference it made.  The initial setup and measurements were easy to complete with the detailed instructions and tools provided.  With low expectations, I went on my first ride in over a month, hoping for 5-10 miles.  The miles started to add up, and before I knew it, I had gone 30 miles!  30 miles with no pain, no saddle sores, and a smile. I ride Bisaddle because it is a saddle that adjusts to me, it is customizable to how I like to sit and what my body needs. Bisaddle has allowed me to go out there and do what I love with the people I enjoy.

Whether you are a larger-bodied individual or of the typical build for a cyclist, Bisaddle has a great saddle that will fit you.

More Athletes

More and more athletes are making the switch over to the BiSaddle. With the ability to customize sitting positions, this saddle can make the difference between an enjoyable ride and uncomfortable one. Feel free to click above on the athletes tab for more.
